The difference of just a minute

Here Then Gone. The difference of just a minute. A Poem written by Colleen Millsteed.

The wilting leaves on the forest trees
Their limbs ruthlessly torn asunder,
Their life blood running down their trunk
What happened here, it makes you wonder.

The wild animal decimated on the road
It was mindlessly going about its day,
Crossing the blackened highway
Hit by a car, it’s young now orphaned prey…

Let’s play!

Hello My Old Friend. Let’s play! A Poem written by Colleen Millsteed.

I literally ran into a very old friend today
The timing could not have been more perfect,
I didn’t realise how much I needed to see her
Until seeing her had such a profound effect.

I regret the time and years we have spent apart
As she is my complete personality…

It’s what I know

Status Quo. It’s what I know. A Poem written by Colleen Millsteed.

The weather today is bleak
Matches my mood perfectly,
The world has again returned
To its black and white state.

I find it comforts me
As it’s what I know,
There’s no unexpected
There’s no expectation.

It is as it is
As it’s all meant to be,
The heart once more
Closes, locks…

A meeting to remember

On A Bed Of Moss. A meeting to remember. A Poem written by Colleen Millsteed.

I pulled into the empty forsaken parking lot
Surrounded by beauty, bird songs and trees,
The harmony of nature forever calling to me
Singing ever so seductively on the breeze.

I entered the rainforest trail hesitantly
My stomach full of nervous butterflies,
My heart swollen and stuck in my throat
A bright smile…

Words so easily pour onto the page

To Honour My Muse. Words so easily pour onto the page. A Poem written by Colleen Millsteed.

These words are a little different to my style
I often write of tales of heartbreak and woe,
Lately my Muse has poured words onto my page
Telling of excitement and happiness I now know.

My Muse brings out the absolute best of me
Wanting me to shout to the world…

Now the colours are starting to shine once again

Once Black And White. Now the colours are starting to shine once again. A Poem written by Colleen Millsteed.
Photo by Sharon McCutcheon on Unsplash

It has now been almost two decades long
I’ve lived here in a world of black and white,
The colour had been leeched from my life
I look through eyes that see dark not light.

My body alive with blood that runs black
Pumped non stop by a heart grown dark,
Heightened…

The tying up of loose ends

Locked And Double Walled. The tying up of loose ends. A Poem written by Colleen Millsteed.

At times you are so often on my mind
I’m then left to wonder where you are,
I question whether you are finally happy
While always loving you from afar.

It’s unbelievable after all these years
I’m finally letting my wounded heart heal,
I think I’m finally ready to close our book
Flaunting…

In total sync

Two Hearts. In total sync. A Poem written by Colleen Millsteed.
Photo by Brittani Burns on Unsplash

Gallons of water
Can’t stop two hearts
That beat as one!

Do you feel me
As I wrap my arms
Around you
Holding you close.

Feel my admiration
As I push my hands
Up under your shirt
To feel your bare skin.

My fingers moving
Up your spine
I feel a shiver
Through…

I’ve learnt to follow this routine without fail

My Dressing Routine. I’ve learnt to follow this routine without fail. A Poem written by Colleen Millsteed.
Photo by Ann Danilina on Unsplash

I wake each morning and climb out of bed
It’s time to get dressed and without a mistake,
I choose the same outfit day in and day out
A routine not for the timid, it’s totally for my sake.

I search through the cupboard and then the drawers
Oh no, that’s…
