Every single time

Wow what a night
Boy did we have a good time
A celebration to end all celebrations
As was our due
We’d put in the hard yards
Fought for what we needed and won.

Then the sun rises
With reality of a new day
Waking with a frown instead of a smile
Thoughts tumbling
Full of agonising regrets
Feelings that beat me black and blue.

It’s just not right
The voice inside my mind
No reason to hang my head in shame
Yes I did have fun
That’s not against the law
It’s certainly no reason for all this pain.
