One Woman’s Life. Good luck. A Poem written by Colleen Millsteed.

All my life I’ve been shy and quiet and usually on my own
And from this I’ve developed the skill of watching the world go round,
Watching the trials and tribulations of other lives that unfold before me
And I’ve been fascinated with this one woman’s life with all its ups and downs.

I’ve watched this woman struggle with her life in the big city
So different to what she’s used to as she is from a different land,
Her daily routine is made up with looking after her children and working
As she is a long term single mother who takes her responsibilities in hand.

She knows no one in her new world and has no help of any kind
But that’s not unusual as she’s always gone it alone,
For so long in fact that she no longer knows how to ask for help
But she’s happy with her lot in life as its all she has ever known.

City life is certainly a struggle and people seem to be from another planet
They won’t give her the time of day and she has no one to call a friend,
But again she has lived alone so long that she doesn’t let that stop her
And she gets through each day ensuring her children’s happiness knows no end.
