My Space

The place I can be alone

My Space. The place I can be alone. A poem by Colleen Millsteed.

Sometimes we need some time out
In a place we can be totally alone,
To regroup and assess one’s life
A special place we can call our own.

I often lay on my bed listening to music
And write of life, love, sadness and fear,
This space adorned with bright colours
My favourite special place is right here.

A weekend afternoon has passed by
And I have done very little to show,
Played some songs, read for awhile
And written of heartbreak and woe.

Darkness falls and I close my eyes
Falling into sleep so peacefully,
My space where I can be alone
My bedroom’s that space for me.

Thank you for reading.
