It Was Just A Game. That I could never win. A Poem written by Colleen Millsteed.

The rain is pouring down relentlessly outside
I’m having trouble sleeping as it’s keeping me awake,
It’s not only the noise as it’s brings back old memories
One’s I’ve tried to forget as they cause my heart to ache.

Memories of a night that was raining then too
In fact it was an evening very much like this,
That night when I first gave you my heart
Wrapped in your arms for a stolen kiss.

For some time now I have regretted the moment
That I allowed you to kiss me and I gave in,
But in defence I was not aware it was just a game
I was unaware of the rules or that I could never win.

I guess deep down I always knew that some day
In some way, you would be forced to choose,
And it was buried deep inside my breaking heart
The knowledge that I would always loose.
