Goodbye Dearest

My soulmate goodbye

Once we were a couple
And a happier couple you’ll never see,
I was your life, your whole life
As once you were to me.

Things went wrong
As I’ve written before,
The going got too tough
And I walked out the door.

I never wanted to leave you
You were still the love of my life,
So I come back again and again
And should have become your wife.

But alas it was not to be
And we parted for the last time,
My heart was so broken
For you were no longer mine.

I don’t know how it come about
That you were hit by a car,
But three days ago you died
And it tore a hole in my heart.

As I sit here writing
Your body’s being put to rest,
I can’t be there with you
So this is my goodbye Dearest.

There’s so many things
That remind me of you,
From places we used to go
To things we loved to do.
