Fairytales
The ultimate lies
When I was a child I firmly believed
That tooth fairies did take my teeth,
I would carefully raise my pillow
And place them gently underneath.
I also believed way back then
That Peter Pan and Wendy could fly,
Then once a year if I’d been good
Santa Claus would glide across the sky.
But my most magical fairytale
Began one April starry night,
My imaginary Prince come to life
And met his own Snow White.
My life was dull and sleepy
But with your kisses I awoke,
You lavished me with words of love
And I believed every word you spoke.
As you can see I still believed in fairytales
Believed in dreams and happy endings,
I was sure I’d find my very own Prince
Only to find that he was pretending.
Cheating and conniving minds can seem
Believable and honest behind loving eyes,
If I had only learnt way back then
That fairytales are the ultimate lies.
