Sadly, our community is not always a good community

We share our hard work in the Facebook groups and the idea is that you read mine and I’ll read yours — but instead of self morality and honesty, more often than not people don’t read yours and will drop their link for you to read theirs.

There are a number of reactions I find when I promote on Facebook :

  • a link will be dropped on your original post without so much as a comment.
  • A link will be dropped with the comment ‘read / clapped’ but when you check your stats and claps you notice this is a blatant lie. They haven’t even opened your link.
  • A link will be dropped with the comment ‘read / clapped’ and yes they have clapped but when you look at your stats they have been there for mere seconds, usually just long enough to clap.
  • A link will be dropped with a comment ‘read / clapped’ or ‘done’ and it’ll be those few decent people who do actually read, but they are getting few and far between.

Oh and don’t let me forget, there will be those new to Medium, chasing 100 followers who’ll drop their link and comment along the lines of ‘follow me and I’ll follow you, plus read / engage and then I’ll read yours’ ……… those links I don’t even bother to…
